Percutaneous crossing screws, a novel technique for transverse patella fractures
نویسنده
چکیده
Results: The mean follow-up period was 22 ± 4.31 months. All the fracture united in a mean time of 7.6 ± 1.28 weeks. The average knee flexion was 134.10 ± 7.61 and 0.5° for extension. The mean Lysholm knee score was 94.5 ± 5.7. No major complications, cosmetic, or hardware problem. Conclusions: The use of crossing screws simplifies fracture fixation, is mini-invasive, and provides stability enough to allow early range of motion exercises, with less injury to the extensor mechanism and better cosmetic scar.

Percutaneous Cannulated Screws with Tension Band Wiring Technique in Patella Fractures
INTRODUCTION Most patellar fractures are transverse involving the central third. Open reduction and stabilization of transverse patellar fractures is indicated if there is more than 2-3 mm of fragment separation and/or articular incongruity. SURGICAL TECHNIQUE This study describes a percutaneous 2 cannulated screws and modified tension band wiring technique to treat transverse patellar fractu...
متن کاملComparison of a minimally invasive technique with open tension band wiring for displaced transverse patellar fractures.
BACKGROUND Open reduction and internal fixation with tension band wire is the standard treatment for displaced transverse patellar fractures. Recently, some minimally invasive techniques have been proposed as possible alternative methods. This retrospective study compared a newly reported percutaneous osteosynthesis with conventional open method for the treatment of displaced transverse patella...
متن کاملInternal Fixation of Transverse Patella Fractures Using Cannulated Cancellous Screws with Anterior Tension Band Wiring
Aims: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of anterior tension band wiring technique using two cannulated cancellous screws in patients with transverse (AO34-C1) or transverse with mildly comminuted (AO34-C2) patellar fractures. Materials and Methods: This is a prospective study of 25 patients with transverse fracture or transverse fracture with mildly comminuted patella fractures. All the ...
متن کاملPercutaneous tension band wiring for patellar fractures.
PURPOSE To evaluate outcome of percutaneous tension band wiring for transverse fractures of the patella. METHODS 16 men and 7 women aged 27 to 65 (mean, 40) years underwent percutaneous tension band wiring for transverse fractures of the patella with a displacement of >3 mm. Pain, operating time, mobility, functional score, and complications were evaluated. RESULTS 20 patients underwent suc...
متن کاملCrossing Suture Technique for the Osteochondral Fractures Repair of Patella
Osteochondral fracture of the patella is a common concomitant injury of the knee, especially in lateral patellar instability, and the importance of early stable fixation with minimal complication and early mobilization should be emphasized. Screws and Kirschner wires both absorbable and nonabsorbable have been the common mode of fixation of these fractures. Nevertheless, these fixation techniqu...
